I love oatmeal. I really do. But my biggest complaint about oatmeal is that it's quite visually unappealing. So making oatmeal sexy was one of my goals. It's so tasty and healthy, and I think more people would enjoy it if it didn't look like a big, grayish-brown blob. Did I succeed?

Total Time 15minutes
Ingredients
1cup old-fashioned oats
2cups water
1cup unsweetened berries
¼cup nuts, chopped
½cup dried berries
½teaspoon salt
2tablespoons brown sugar
¼cup maple syrup
Instructions
Bring 2 cups water to a boil and add in 1 cup old-fashioned oats and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Reduce to a low simmer and cook for five minutes. Remove from the heat and let sit covered for two minutes.
Divide 1 cup berries (I used frozen as fresh are not in season yet here), 1/4 cup nuts, and 1/4 cup dried berries along with the oatmeal between two ramekins.
Top with the 2 tablespoons brown sugar. If you want to add in 1/4 cup maple syrup, do it before adding the brown sugar.
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and in the broiler on high for about 5 minutes, making sure it doesn't burn.
