VINTAGE 2012
The 2012 Burbank Ranch Arneis is a grape varietal I’ve never had, but also, never heard of. I love exploring new varieties and this white wine is no exception. According to Burbank Ranch, Arneis (which means “little rascal” in the Northern Italian dialect of Piemontese) is so-called because it’s rather difficult to grow in Italy. However, it thrives in the Paso Robles AVA.

The wine has good minerality on the nose along with a wet stone, nutty, peach/apricot thing going on. The palate has good viscosity to it and maintains those mineral, peach, and apricot aromas. Are you thirsty now? I am.

I’ve been to the Burbank Ranch tasting room a handful of times and I’ve always enjoyed both the experience and the people. They have this wonderful bistro on site that is worth checking out. Well, wine tasting and food usually prevents me from getting trashed and running through the park naked. Blame it on the Arneis. I know I will.

They recently became SIP Certified and that’s a big damn deal as you probably know. Taking care of the environment has to be a priority. They are in the middle of building a new winery and tasting room on their property which looks pretty awesome from the designs. Congrats to Burbank Ranch and keep up the great work!
