2011 Cass Winery Grenache

VARIETAL Grenache
REGION Paso Robles
LIFESTYLE Conventional
ABV 14.1%
VINTAGE 2011
Grenache is one of my favorite red wines and this 2011 Cass Winery Grenache does not disappoint. This one definitely leans to the spicy end of the spectrum when it comes to this varietal. On the nose you’ll find baking spice, earthiness, cherry, as well as vanilla. When you go to knock it back, you’ll find the strawberry, cherry, and a touch of that earthiness again. It’s quite smooth, not too heavy like some Grenache can be.

Due to that smoothness, food is not a necessity. However, it could easily pair with anything that has a fair amount of spice or herbs…like me. I always think of Grenache as that perfect cold, stormy evening kind of wine. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t drink it during the day, though. It’s the blues and jazz of the wine world.
