It’s that time of year… when the flavor pumpkin spice spreads from food blog to food blog, like an STD. Or is it Ebola? Either way, this Pumpkin Chia Smoothie is the perfect addition to your addiction. Not only is it healthy and tasty, it’s protein packed so you can kick some major ass come Black Friday.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • ¼ cup hemp milk
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 banana
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • ½ cup ice

Its a smoothie recipe so there aren’t any tricky instructions here. Just throw everything in a blender, blend, and then serve! So how about some Halloween history to read while your smoothie is blending?

How to Carve a Pumpkin

FACT: Did you know that the tradition of the Jack O’Lantern (pumpkin carving) was brought to the U.S. by Irish immigrants? Though, they didn’t carve pumpkins back home … they carved turnips. Pumpkins were abundant here and they found them much easier to carve than the turnip, as one would expect.
